For 2024, the Peugeot Expert range remains unchanged from the previous year ahead of the company’s launch of the updated E-Expert, with both short and long-wheelbase variants split across three trim levels.

The 2024 Peugeot Expert range is priced from $43,397 for the entry-level Expert City SWB Manual, with prices rising to $46,736 for the Expert Pro Long Manual.

The Expert Pro SWB Automatic is priced at $47,849, while the Expert Pro Long Automatic is priced at $50,075.

Opting for the Peugeot Expert Premium SWB Automatic brings the price to $51,039 while the range-topping Expert Premium Long Automatic is priced at $52,565.

What Features & Specs Does the Peugeot Expert Have?

Peugeot’s entry-level Expert City SWB manual comes riding on 16-inch steel wheels, and receives a pair of dual sliding doors, 180-degree aperture rear barn doors, cloth upholstery, air conditioning, rear parking sensors, cruise control, a glazed bulkhead and a 5.5-inch ‘i-Cockpit’ instrument cluster and a full-sized spare tyre.

Peugeot’s mid-range Expert Pro adds fog lights, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, a rear-view mirror, wheel-mounted gear shifters, keyless entry with push-button start and a rear-view camera with front and rear parking sensors.

The range-topping Expert Premium adds 17-inch alloys and LED daytime running lamps, as well as the clever ‘Moduwork’ flip-down, rotating workbench, 8x tie-down rings in the cargo bay and a body-coloured finish for the front and rear bumpers.

All members of the Peugeot Expert range come packed with the same 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system sitting between the air vents on the dashboard.

It’s not the flashiest unit on the market but it does remain easy to navigate, with physical shortcuts offering a quick way to access vehicle settings, shortcuts and media controls.

Pegueot’s 7.0-inch infotainment system receives AM/FM and DAB+ digital radio, as well as Bluetooth and wired Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity and is paired with a four-speaker sound system across the range.

Is the Peugeot Expert Comfortable to Drive?

While cargo vans are rarely impressive behind the wheel, Peugeot has done well to give the Expert feel like a more refined, even car-like driving experience.

Power for the Expert range comes supplied by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel unit that throws 110kW of power and 370Nm of torque to the front wheels via your choice of a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission.

While the Expert’s power figures are modest, 370Nm of torque does come to the rescue when it comes to pulling off the line with a heavy load of cargo thanks to peak torque coming into the equation at 2,000rpm.

This gives the Expert decent acceleration off the line and a particularly smooth nature while opening the throttle thanks to the slick powertrain and transmission combination in automatic variants.

Around town, the Expert is reasonably well-behaved thanks to its lightweight steering rack though, you’ll soon notice that it requires some added wheel rotation while parking in tight quarters.

Having said that, the Expert’s compact turning circle means that it’s not too much of a handful to pilot.

Pick up the pace and the Expert’s platform and suspension package does well to iron out small and moderate bumps without too much of an issue, proving itself as a comfortable cruiser around town.

On the highway, the Expert cruises happily at high speeds and soaks up bumps confidently, even while unloaded, proving itself as one of the more refined members of the cargo van segment.

Is the Peugeot Expert Fuel Efficient?

The appeal of the Peugeot Expert’s impressive on-road manners is bolstered by impressive fuel economy figures regardless of which transmission you opt for.

As you might imagine, short wheelbase Expert variants are the most efficient thanks to their weight advantage over their Expert LWB siblings, but there’s not a lot in it.

On a combined cycle, the Expert SWB range is rated at 6.0L per 100km, which rises to 6.3L per 100km in the Expert LWB range.

CO2 emissions stand at 156 grams per kilometre in the Expert SWB range, increasing slightly to 165 grams per kilometre in the Expert LWB.

Both variants receive a 70-litre fuel tank.

The Peugeot Expert’s cabin is a fairly basic affair that aims to keep things relatively clean and simple for those in the cockpit.

Peugeot has done well to tick all the fundamental boxes, though, with excellent headroom in the front of the cabin and a tall driving position that gives you confidence over your surroundings and a folding armrest for the driver.

The Expert offers a three-abreast seating arrangement that manages to just squeeze in three adults in the front of the cabin, though there’s not much spare width when fully loaded.

The layout is simple but effective in keeping things easy to access while offering a healthy range of storage options in the front cabin, with Pro variants receiving a leather-wrapped steering wheel for an added touch of class.

The Expert’s dashboard houses a storage tray beneath the display and another compact storage area beneath the gear selector with added storage in front of the front passenger’s seat.

There are also some stash spots inside the door sills on either side and a tray beside the door handles, though no cupholders on offer.

Move to the rear and dual-sliding doors give easy access to cargo positioned forward in the load bay, while 180-degree barn doors make unloading a simple process.

The Peugeot Expert’s load bay receives a total of six tie-down rings to help you secure valuable cargo and stop it from sliding from the front to the back of the van while accelerating.

Safety is a bit of a mixed bag in the Peugeot Expert, with the majority of the lineup receiving some much-needed active safety equipment, though the entry-level City Short Manual misses out on some key tech.

While you’ll find adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warnings, blind-spot monitoring and lane-departure alerts on the Pro lineup, these are omitted from the entry-level City.

There’s a lot to like about the Peugeot Expert range, primarily thanks to its practical nature and smooth on-road manners that make it easy to pilot around town.

We’d recommend sticking to the mid-range Expert Pro or Premium variants which come packing a much more significant equipment list and receive some much-needed active safety gear to make a delivery run through town much less stressful.
