Request a quoteWhat Features & Specs Does the Peugeot 2008 Hybrid Have?
Peugeot is yet to confirm final specifications for the updated 2008 Hybrid range here in Australia, though we do know some of the features set to make their way to its fresh compact SUV.
The entry-level Peugeot 2008 Allure Hybrid comes riding on a set of 17-inch ‘Karakoy’ diamond-cut alloy wheels and receives LED headlights with ‘Claw Effect’ LED tail lights and daytime running lamps.
The Peugeot 2008 Allure Hybrid also receives ‘Lomsa’ fabric upholstery with a leather effect and quartz top stitching, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, roof rails, a body-coloured roof and rear spoiler, an e-Toggle gear selector and a surround-view monitor with parking sensors and a wireless smartphone charger.
Stepping up to the Peugeot 2008 GT Hybrid adds a set of 18-inch Evissa onyx black diamond cut alloys, a panoramic sunroof, diamond black roof and rear spoiler, a configurable 3D digital instrument cluster and adaptive cruise control with a stop-and-go function.
The 2008 GT Hybrid also picks up Alcantara and leather upholstery with green Adamite contrast stitching and a set of heated, massaging front seats with electronic adjustment including lumbar support.
Peugeot 2008 Hybrid Connectivity & Infotainment Features
Peugeot says that both versions of its 2008 Hybrid range will come packaged with a 10.0-inch high-definition capacitive-touchscreen infotainment display sitting atop the dashboard.
Does the Peugeot 2008 Hybrid Have Wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto?
Buyers will be pleased to know that Peugeot has updated the 2008 Hybrid range with wireless smartphone mirroring for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto ecosystems.
The previous 2008 and battery-electric e-2008 range offered the same 10-inch infotainment system, though required a USB connection to access Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on the move.
Wireless smartphone mirroring is very much in demand, so it’s nice to see Peugeot responding to customer preferences and updating the MY25 2008 range with wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto.
What Engine Powers the MY25 Peugeot 2008?
The release of Peugeot’s updated 2008 range is headlined by a brand-new, mild-hybrid engine.
It’s a 1.2-litre, turbocharged three-cylinder petrol unit that is paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system that sends 100kW of power and 230Nm of torque to the front wheels.
The powertrain offers a small power bump over its replacement and is paired with a six-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission that replaces the outgoing eight-speed torque converter unit.
Unpack the engine and you’ll see there’s a new compact electric motor integrated into the transmission, as well as a small 0.9kWh battery pack.
While it’s classed as a mild-hybrid, with the help of that compact battery pack, Peugeot says the 2008 Hybrid range can drive short bursts on electric power, namely while parking.
Is the Peugeot 2008 Hybrid Fuel Efficient?
Judging by preliminary figures from Peugeot, the 2008 Hybrid looks set to be the most fuel-efficient compact SUV we’ve seen from the company yet.
Peugeot says that on a combined cycle, the 2008 Hybrid range is rated at 4.4L per 100km, which is a significant 19% reduction in fuel use.
On the city cycle, Peugeot claims the 2008 Hybrid uses 4.7L per 100km while time spent on the highway will see the 2008 Hybrid sip a claimed 3.8L per 100km.
The 2008 Hybrid receives a 44L fuel tank which, combined with its 4.4L/100km figures, translates to an average distance of 1,000 kilometres between fill-ups.
Significantly, the company also says that new hybrid engine tech drops CO2 emissions down by 19% which now stands at 99g/km.
Is the Peugeot 2008 Practical and Spacious?
While Peugeot is yet to confirm concrete details of the 2008’s interior layout, we’re expecting a very similar package to the previous generation.
That means there’s a sleek, modern interior layout filled with interesting design lines and textures and an impressive technology package that makes it feel both stylish and contemporary.
If the previous 2008 range is anything to judge by, expect to see a reasonably spacious front cockpit filled with the usual assortment of storage options, a compact little steering wheel and a decent amount of headroom up front.
The same applies to rear accommodation, with the 2008 holding its own within the small SUV in terms of second-row acreage.
While things are noticeably more cramped than the front of the cabin, the previous-gen 2008 offered a healthy amount of legroom for the segment, though headroom was on the tighter side.
The previous 2008 range measured the following dimensions; we’ll be sure to report back if Peugeot announces a larger platform for the MY25 2008 Hybrid range, though this remains unlikely.
-
Length: 4,304mm
-
Wheelbase: 2,605mm
-
Width: 1,815mm
-
Boot Space Minimum: 434L
-
Boot Space Maximum: 1,467L
Is the Peugeot 2008 Hybrid Safe?
Peugeot is yet to confirm the full list of safety technologies set to make their way to the MY25 2008 range.
Though, using the previous 2008 range as a reference point, we can at least make an educated guess as to what buyers can expect to see fitted as standard, and which features are typically reserved for range-topping GT versions.
As standard, entry-level versions of the MY24 2008 range come packed with autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, multi-collision braking, a rear-view camera with front & rear parking sensors and driver attention alerts.
Some much-needed pieces of safety equipment like adaptive cruise control, lane centring, blind-spot monitoring and a surround-view monitor have previously been reserved for the flagship 2008 GT.
We’ll be sure to report back when we’ve had confirmation from Peugeot regarding updated safety equipment lists for the MY25 2008 range.
Does the MY25 Peugeot 2008 Have an ANCAP Safety Rating?
If Peugeot utilises its existing platform and hardware, the MY25 2008 range will arrive in Australia wearing a five-star ANCAP safety rating.
In its 2019 testing, the Peugeot 2008 range scored the following marks.
-
Adult Occupant Protection: 93%
-
Child Occupant Protection: 87%
-
Vulnerable Road User Protection: 73%
-
Safety Assist: 72%
What Warranty Does the Peugeot 2008 Hybrid Come With?
Peugeot’s updated MY25 2008 Hybrid range will come packaged with a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty as well as five years of roadside assistance.
The company also says that buyers stand to benefit from five years of capped-price servicing, though pricing details are yet to be finalised.
The same applies for service intervals which may well drop from 12-months/15,000-kilometres in the previous 2008 range down to 10,000-kilometres, though this is yet to be confirmed.
What Colours is the MY25 Peugeot 2008 Hybrid Available With?
Pegueto says that its updated 2008 Hybrid range will be available in a choice of six colours.
These include Sellenium Grey, Obsession Blue, Okenite White, Nera Black, Elixir Red and Artense Grey.
