Using that dataset we can see that sales of electric vehicles increased by a massive 548% from the 2021 sales tally of 4,532 EVs, standing at 33,410 for the year ending 2022.
That’s a five-fold increase in the number of electric vehicles sold here in Australia in a twelve-month period.

Australian EV Sales Compared to Petrol and Diesel Vehicles
According to VFacts data from December, 2022, sales of electric vehicles totalled 33,410 vehicles, which includes the passenger, SUV and light commercial vehicle segments.
Sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles stood at 5,937, while traditional hybrid vehicle sales totalled 81,786.
These figures were far outnumbered by petrol and diesel vehicles, though, which totalled 551,556 and 361,366 respectively in 2022.
