image for 10 Cars with the Longest Warranty in Australia 2024 Finding a car with a long warranty program is, understandably, one of the most important criteria while shopping around for a new car.

After all - it’s one of the largest purchases you’ll ever make, so why not go with a car that offers an extra year, two or even five years for some added peace of mind down the line.

With competition within Australia’s vehicle landscape well and truly heating up, manufacturers are looking to one-up their rivals with increasingly generous warranty programs.

This is great news for you, the end consumer, who benefits immensely from a long warranty that could potentially save you thousands, or at the very least, help to cement your vehicle’s resale value.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at ten car manufacturers with the longest warranty programs currently on offer here in Australia in 2024.

MG - 10 Years/250,000-kilometre

MG made waves earlier this year when it announced it was extending its already lengthy seven-year warranty to a segment-leading ten years, well and truly throwing the gauntlet down to its major rivals.

Effective on the 1st of August, 2024, all MG vehicles now come backed by a ten-year warranty that extends out to 250,000-kilometres.

MG Vehicles with a 10-year warranty include the entire lineup, so long as it hasn’t been used for commercial purposes.

That means everything from the MG 4 EV, the ZS, ZST and HS SUVs as well as the pint-sized MG 3 hatchback receive a decade-long warranty.

Mitsubishi - Ten Years/200,000-kiliometre

Mitsubishi takes second place on our list of the longest new car warranties on offer in 2024, with a program that stretches out to ten years, so long as you meet some key criteria.

While Mitsubishi’s standard five-year/100,000km warranty remains as standard, if the owner of a vehicle purchased after 2020 services it within the Mitsubishi network, and in accordance with its set service intervals.

Kia - Seven Years / Unlimited-kilometre

Kia remains atop the leaderboard when it comes to long warranty coverage, with the company’s seven-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty remaining very much in place for 2024.

It’s been ten years since Kia first announced it was stretching out warranties for its new vehicles to seven years, and a decade later, it’s not going anywhere.

Kia’s seven-year warranty remains in place for both internal combustion and battery-electric vehicles, though EVs and any vehicle used for commercial purposes pick up a seven-year warranty, with coverage dropped to 150,000km.

GWM/Haval - Seven Year / Unlimited-kilometre

A key ingredient of GWM/Haval’s ascent in the Western automotive world has been attractive pricing and, of course, long warranty coverage.

GWM and Haval vehicles sold here in Australia in 2024 used privately are packaged with a seven-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty for long-term peace of mind.

The company notes that GWM and Haval vehicles that are used for commercial purposes retain the same seven years of coverage, though it’s worth noting that the kilometres covered drop to 150,000km.

Skoda - Seven-year/unlimited-kilometre

While Skoda is often overshadowed by its major rivals, the VW-owned Czech company offers the most generous warranty program of any European automotive brand.

Just a few years ago, Skoda announced it would be extending its five-year warranty to that of a seven-year/unlimited-km warranty after a hugely successful marketing ploy transformed into a permanent feature of the brand.

Skoda’s seven-year warranty applies to any vehicle purchased after 2022 here in Australia, and while it excludes commercial vehicles, government and fleet vehicles remain under the umbrella of the seven-year warranty.

SsangYong - Seven-year/unlimited-kilometre

South Korea’s SsangYong is hoping to expand its slice of the market with a particularly generous seven-year warranty.

The company’s seven-year warranty applies to popular models like the Musso ute and the more recent Rexton and Torres picking up a lengthy warranty with unrestricted kilometres that make it a great option for Australia’s long, open roads.

LDV - Model Dependent (3 - 7 Years)

LDV offers a seven-year warranty across certain members of its range, which drops to five-years in some of its latest-generation vehicles and just three-years in its van workhorses.

Buyers opting for the T60 Max ute or the petrol-powered LDV Mifa people-mover retain the company’s seven-year/200,000km warranty, while buyers getting behind the wheel of the battery-electric Mifa 9, eDeliver9, eT60 ute or the eDeliver 7 pick up a five-year/160,000km warranty.

In terms of the ever-popular, family-friendly LDV D90, buyers receive a five-year/130,000km warranty, while the cargo-focussed Deliver 9 range receives a three-year/160,000km warranty, dropping to 100,000km in the case of the G10 and V80 vans.

BYD - Six-year/150,000-kilometre

BYD is hoping that a generous warranty program will play a key role in dominating electric vehicle sales in Australia, with the company packaging its vehicles with a six-year/150,000km warranty.

While the coverage period isn’t segment-leading, BYD’s warranty does at least extend from private use through to the commercial segment, meaning those putting their Atto 3 or Seal to use still get to benefit from a six-year warranty.

Isuzu - Six-year/150,000-kilometre

Isuzu’s ascent to the top of Australia’s sales charts has always been underpinned by an impressive value proposition, which extends to the company’s warranty program.

Buyers pick up a six-year warranty here in Australia that stretches out to 150,000-kilometres, which is a particularly nice touch for those gearing up and hitting the Great Outdoors in their D-Max or MU-X.

Toyota - Five-year/unlimited-kilometre*

While we’re dropping back to the more conventional benchmark for warranties, Toyota’s coverage does include some added coverage past the five-year mark.

Buyers pick up a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty for every member of the Toyota range, with the company extending coverage for the drivetrain out to seven years, if the vehicle has been serviced at the dealership, in its correct intervals.

While this extension doesn’t cover all aspects of the vehicle, this drivetrain warranty does at least cover some of the most important fundamentals of a vehicle and includes coverage for both petrol, diesel and hybrid vehicles.
