America’s own Cadillac is set to return to Australia after a decades-long hiatus, with the company hoping its brand-new, ultra-premium electric SUV will prove a winner with buyers Down Under.
Cadillac is launching the Lyriq SUV in the early stages of 2025, a two-pronged lineup promising 530km of range from a 102kWh battery pack and tonnes of interior space aimed at family buyers.
Both the Lyriq Luxury and Sport will receive an electric powertrain pushing out 388kW of power and 610Nm of torque to all four wheels, as well as a massive 33-inch infotainment and instrument cluster display inside the cabin.
Geely
Yet another Chinese giant is touching down in Australia in 2025, with Geely’s arrival headlined by the EX5, a mid-sized SUV package that picks up a sleek styling package and healthy range figures to help it compete in the fierce battery-electric SUV segment.
While prices are yet to be confirmed, it’s likely Geely will aim to undercut major rivals like the Tesla Model Y, Kia EV5 and the Hyundai IONIQ 5 while providing up to 425km of range from a 60.2kWh LFP battery pack.
XPeng
XPeng is not taking its Australian launch lightly, with the company opening up a flagship store in Sydney while outlining plans for up to a dozen brand-new models set to flood the market by 2026.
XPeng is letting its G6 midsize SUV and the larger three-row G9 SUV make the first impression with buyers, the former offering between 435 - 570km of range from 66kWh and 87.5kWh battery packs and super fast charging via its 800-volt architecture.
Skywell
Skywell is another electric vehicle brand from the Land of the Red Dragon arriving in Australia in 2025, with the company launching the ET5 midsize electric SUV.
Skywell’s ET5 goes up against the Tesla Model Y and BYD Atto 3 and is set to be introduced with a choice of two batteries, the smallest measuring 72kWh and a larger 86kWh pack that offer 400 - 490km of range, respectively.
Foton
Foton is set to make its return to the Aussie automotive landscape with a range of utes and vans set to arrive in 2025.
After departing the market in 2019, Foton is returning with the Tunland V7 dual-cab ute and its bigger brother, the Ford F-150-sized Tunland V9, as the company eyes over the ever-lucrative ute world here in Australia.
Both the Tunland V7 and V9 are set to come powered by a 48V mild-hybrid 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel that will make them a great option for towing and off-road excursions.
Denza
Denza is yet another Chinese entrant arriving in 2025, sitting as a luxury subsidiary of the BYD behemoth that hopes to snatch some glory from established rivals like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus and Genesis.
Denza will launch a luxury people-mover named the D9 in 2025 which picked up both battery-electric and plug-in hybrid powertrain options in its home market of China and featured a practical seven-seat layout alongside an executive four-seater with first-class airline seats.
Deepal
Deepal is hoping to make a lasting impression with Aussies with the launch of the S07, a midsize SUV package with a sleek coupe-inspired styling package and a sharp price tag.
The S07 is priced at $53,900 before on-road costs and picks up a single electric motor that pushes out 160kW/320Nm with claimed range figures of 475km from a 79.97kWh battery pack.
Deepal has also announced plans to launch its G318 off-road focussed SUV with a hybrid powertrain, the E07 SUV that blurs the lines between an SUV and a ute as well as a compact SUV.
Zeekr
Geely subsidiary Zeekr is the final Chinese manufacturer arriving in Australia in 2025, with its Zeekr X small SUV package set to make a splash Down Under.
The Zeekr X has a lot going for it, riding on a platform borrowed from the Volvo EX-30 and the Smart #1, with both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive options available for buyers and up to 540km of range from a 66kWh battery pack.
Zeekr has also announced plans to launch the 009 people-mover in the early stages of 2025, a seven-seat, fully-electric family package that pushes out a monstrous 693Nm of torque from a pair of electric motors and up to 686km of range from a massive 116kWh lithium-ion battery pack.
